Research Notes
The 1850 census for Chester, Windsor, Vermont lists a Jane D. Howe, male, age 3 in the Alva Howe household..This is almost certainly a transcription error for Zeno D. Howe. Zeno appears in multiple sources, but not the 1850 census transcription and Jane never appears again. A close examination of the handwritten record supports this conclusion that it should be Zeno.
Alvah did not marry the Julia Ann Miles who was born in Massachusetts and died in Illinois. Some trees confuse these two.
