Biography

Alphonzo was born in Spencer, Mass. on 3 Jul 1805. He married Polly Slayton of Brookfield, Mass. on 20 Sep 1832. They had 9 children. She died on 13 Feb 1847, aged 33. He married second, 29 Aug 1847, Lucy Bemis, daughter of Elihu and Sally (Lamb) Bemis, born 7 Aug 1821. They lived in Brookfield. Lucy died in 1885. He died Jan 30, 1888.^[1]

Sarah Ann, b. May 28, d. June 5, 1833;

John M., b. April 26, 1834, in B. He is a dealer in coal, wood, hay, grain and fertilizers, at E. B.; owns and lives on the old Phineas Slayton farm;

Sarah Jane, b. Nov. 18, 1835, d. Feb. 4, 1868;

Angenette C, b. July 31, 1837; married Joseph P. Vaughn of Prescott, Mass.

Elbridge G., b. April 4, 1839,

Albert S., b. Jan. 12, 1841; married 29 Sep 1870 Ella Lyman. They lived in Hartford, Conn. where he died 23 Nov 1905. He served in the Civil War as a private in Co. D, 24th Regt, Mass. Vols.

Lorinda Slayton., b. Sept. 4, 1842; married William Howard Whiting, died 10 Aug 1914

Frances A., b. March 30, 1845; married Howard Ambrose Vaughn, died 28 Jul 1900

Edwin A., b. Feb. 2, 1847; married Sophronia Canedy. They lived in Springfield, where he was a machinist. He died 10 May 1907
