Biography

Born in Boston 22 July 1830, the second son of the same name after the earlier Jacob Alonzo Howe died at age 7. He served as a Sergeant in Company A, 13th Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteers, and he was mustered out as a Captain on 1 August 1864. He later held an appointment in the Custom House in Boston. He married 1 January 1870 Rebecca Davis {Lombard} Glover born in Gorham, Maine, and the widow of James Knowles Glover. They had one daughter, Sarah Jennie Howe, born in Boston 29 October 1870. He Iived in Malden and was a bookkeeper. The 1900 census lists him living in Malden, age 69 with his daughter Sarah Jennie Howe and stepdaughter Lizzie A. Glover.^[1] He died in Malden 12 Feb 1907.^[2]
