David Howe moved with his father in 1772 to York County SC. While residing there he enlisted during October 1778 under Captain Hawthorne and Col. Neel and served until March 1779. Ten days later he was called out under Capt. Hawthorne & Col. Sumpter. He was in an engagement on the Catawba River and was in the battles of Rocky Mount, Hanging Rock, Fishing Creek and Kings Mountain. Howe was alloted a pension on his application executed 12/3/1832, while residing in Fleming Co. KY. (From the Roster of Kings Mountain Patriots, FPA S13422,AA 3803; Y452; PL). He is buried at Brick Union Cemetery, Popular Plains, Fleming Co. KY.[1]
