Census and Military Records; and other historical artifacts of Therman Arthur Howe: Shortly after Therman's birth, the Arthur Howe family packed nine people and all of their belongings into an old Model T pickup and moved to Idaho. In the (13 Jan) 1920 Federal Census, Therman was living in Orofino, Clearwater, Idaho with his parents and all of his siblings. Therman was at age 5.[2] In the (24 Apr) 1930 Federal Census, Therman was living with his sister Kitty and brother-in-law, Hank Eirish. Sisters Jessie and Goldie were also in the Eirish household. Therman was just three days from being age 15.[3] In the 1940 Federal Census, Therman was back living in College City, Williams Judicial Township, Colusa, California. His mother Phebe's and older brother Albert had since passed away. Harold was no longer living in Colusa County and is believed to have moved to Oakland. back was "batching" with his older brother, Carl. Therman was 24.[4] On 19 Nov 1942, at age 27, Therman joined the Army while the U. S. was in the throes of WWII. The stated terms were: "Enlistment for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law."[5] After his service in the Army, Therman settled in Geyserville, Sonoma, California. He worked primarily as a Carpenter while helping his father-in-law with farming a small orchard. Later, he bought a sixty acre ranch outside of the town of Healdsburg in an area known as Dry Creek. The crop that he purchased happened to be prunes. The ranch proved to be a full time, year 'round job for Therman and his family which also include his older brother, Harold. Even the area's school system was geared toward the summer's harvest, ensuring that school children were out and available to help get the crop to market. Therman's brother Carl, along with his wife Erma and their children were also recruited to help with processing fruit during that time critical, seasonal task. Therman had suffered most of his life with diabetes. He always kept a case of soda pop nearby to help stabilize his blood sugar levels. One afternoon, after the harvest of 1963, Therman uncharacteristicly came home early and told his wife that he was tired and needed to lay down. He passed away in his bed shortly afterward. He is buried in Oak Mound Cemetery in Healdsburg next to his wife, "Beth". His daughter Linda, her still born child, Susan; and his brother Harold are also interred nearby.[6]
