Biography

Deborah Howell was born in Haverford, Pennsylvania Colony to William and Mary (Thomas) Howell.[1] On August 7, 1713 Deborah married George Boone in Abington, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania Colony. The date is also recorded as May 27 because of the variation of which calendar was being used.[2]

Per Swarthmore, Quaker Meeting Records. Friends Historical Library, Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. her birthdate is October 23, 1691. The difference in months is due to a misinterpretation of Quaker dates. Additional information on her parents and their spouses are found on her father's profile (Howell-1838)

The Register of the Kentucky State Historical Society, Vol. 14, by Kentucky Historical Society: (George Boone IV) "Was Secretary to Wm. Penn for a time, and Professor in the first college in Phila. His wife's maiden name was Deborah Howell. She died in 1759, January 26th. She was a very superior woman for that period."

"Deborah was a preacher, and Exeter (Oley) monthly meeting left a memorial of her. In the Quaker Cemetery at Exeter was erected a handsome monument to her memory."
