Biography

This profile is part of the Howland Name Study.

Birth

The work of Franklyn Howland says that Hannah Howland was born on 9 May 1734 and married Isaac Delano.[1]

Hannah Howland was born on 9 May 1734 in Pembroke, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.[2]

Marriage

Hannah Howland and Isaac Delano of Duxborough published their intentions of marriage on 20 April 1755 in Kingston, Plymouth County, Massachusetts Bay.[3][4] They were married sometime after the publication of their intentions of marriage.

The common belief is based on the family trees with no supporting sources from Ancestry.com to claim that Widow Hannah Delano married second, Ephraim Jackson on 5 February 1784 in Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts and she had three children by him namely, Barnard Jackson (b. 1786), Lucy Jackson (b. 1785), Polly Jackson (b. 1787), and Sally Jackson (b. 1792). However, the work of Nahum Mitchell did not provide the supporting evidence that Hannah Delano was a widow and married second, Ephraim Jackson.[5] Also, it does not provide any identification on Hannah Delano who married Ephriam Jackson.

It is doubtful that Isaac Delano's widow, Hannah Delano married second, Ephraim Jackson and bore three children because she would be 52 years old if she bore the first child (Barnard Jackson, b. 1786) by him.

The identity of Hannah Delano who married Ephriam Jackon on 5 February 1784 has not been identified yet,[5] so she cannot be identical to Hannah Delano, the widow of Isaac Delano.

Death

Widow Hannah Delano's death date remains unknown. Nothing is found in death records in Plymouth County for her death date. Her death could be either before or after her husband's death.
