Phebe A. Howland was born on December 3, 1804, in Douglas, Massachusetts, the child of Joseph Howland and Lydia (Aldrich) Howland. She married John W. Thompson on July 24, 1825, in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. They had eight children in 13 years. She died on November 13, 1879, in Upton, Massachusetts, at the age of 74, and was buried in Douglas, Massachusetts.
