Ste. Marie News
Sainte Marie and vicinity has lost another of its grand old men in the death of Joseph Huber, who passed away quietly Wednesday. Death was due to a slight attack of pneumonia and general debilities. Grandpa Huber was born in Bavaria, Germany, January 25, 1823. At the age of 21 he joined the army and served seven years in that capacity as an honorable soldier. In 1852 he came to America, locating in Cincinnati.
Here he spent three years and here too he was married to Miss Cressiance Rodering in 1855. Their union was blessed with four children, all sons, viz: George, of the Bend, Joseph and Herman of this place and John of Elbert, Colo. On Dec. 7, 1865, he with his family came to Ste. Marie and located on a farm east of town where he resided until his death, with his sons Joseph and Herman and the latter's family, his wife having died Jan 8, 1877.
