Biography

Martin Huber was born either about 1522 [1]or 1525 in Switzerland, quite possibly in Aesch, Neftenbach in former Canton of Kyburg (Zurich)[2].

Martin had married 3 times and fathered 13 children.[1] Descendants of Bertholdus... lists only 12 The difference is there was a Catherine Huber baptized July 2, 1564 listed in both and a second Catherine Huber baptized Aug 5, 1565. Often parents would name the next one in honor of the recently passed child.

Martin first married Ann Schmidlin about 1548[1][2]They had 5 children of which one died in infancy and another died young:
  1. Hans
  2. Christian
  3. Catharina (died young)
  4. Barbara
  5. Verena (died in infancy)

On 29 March 1559 Martin married his second spouse, Agathe Wipf at Neftenbach. Martin and Agathe (modern spelling Agatha) also had 5 children of which two died in infancy:[1]

  1. Fronegg
  2. Magdalena
  3. Catharina (died in infancy)
  4. Catharina
  5. Heinrich

Lastly, after his second wife died, Martin married a third time to Catharine Schaub on 16 January 1569/70 in Neftenbach, Switzerland.[1] They had 3 children:

  1. Verena
  2. Martin
  3. Anna

Martin died sometime after 1575 in Aesch.

Research Notes

Switzerland started using the Gregorian calendar in 1584, but the whole of the nation did not adopt its use until 1812.

Note: in former times Aesch was spelled Aisch

Inconsistent dates in this profile. Says Martin married in 1648 after he died in 1559.
