Research

On Tues, July 27, 1971, Joyce and Newell Huckaby visited Huckaby, MO and happened along the Hopewell Baptist Church, the church that all the Huckaby's of the area belonged to and the graveyard where many of them are buried. There were some ladies working in the church, so Joyce went in and spoke to them asking if any Huckaby's were buried in the church yard. One of the ladies had been a Huckaby before her marriage and a grandaughter of Hayden Huckaby. Her name was Mrs. Avis Bradshaw, of Urbana, MO. She was 59 years old, heavy set, white haired and very pleasant. She showed them around the cemetery and advised them to look up Mr. Bertie Huckaby, who she said could tell us quite a lot about early ancestors. They spent about three quarters of an hour at the cemetery and visiting with Delphia M. Huckaby - Bradshaw.
