Biography

Thomas Huddleston was born about 1766 in Bucks County, PA. He was the son of William Huddleston and Martha Myers. The family were Quakers.[1]

About 1770, Thomas' parents as well as uncles Daniel and Abraham Huddleston all moved their families to Bedford County, VA.

Between 1785-1793, brothers William and Daniel Huddleston moved their families to Kanawha Valley, VA (now WV). Abraham Huddleston remained in Bedford, VA.

Thomas Huddleston married Rachel Huddleston 20 Jan 1787 in Bedford, VA with consent of her father. Rachel was his first cousin, the daughter of Daniel.[2][3]

Thomas and his wife Rachel are listed as heirs in the will of his father, William Huddleston, (Will Bk: 1, p.209) 11 Nov 1817, Kanawha, VA(WV).

Thomas and his family are listed in the 1810 Shelby, KY census: Males: 1<10, 2<15, 1<25, 1<44; Females: 2<15, 1<25, 1<44.[4]

There are two land records showing purchases dated 5 Jul 1825 in Indiana. One is for land in Montgomery County, IN and the other is for Parke County, IN. Both name Thomas Huddleston of Hardin County, KY as the purchaser.[5][6]

Another purchase is made 20 Apr 1826 in Putnam County, IN by Thomas Huddleston of Montgomery County, IN.[7]

Thomas is enumerated in the 1830 Montgomery, IN census: Males: 1<60; Females: 1<30, 1<70.[8]

Thomas Huddleston died about 1831 in Montgomery County, IN
