Mary Elizabeth Huddleston was born on November 7, 1874 in Putnam, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Byrum Franklin Huddleston (1843–1912) and Ruth Jared (1846–1902). She was one of eleven children.
She became a single mother at the age of eighteen. She raised her daughter Pearl Jane Huddleston (1892–1981) in the household of her parents and siblings. They were a farming family.
Betty was an active member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Gentry.
During the depression she kept her grandchildren while their parents went to find work in Ohio.
Betty died on October 7, 1958 in Putnam, aged 83. She was buried in Jared-Huddleston Cemetery, Baxter, Putnam County, Tennessee.[1]
