Biography

Records show that William Hudson was baptised on 30 September 1571 at Tamworth, Staffordshire, England.[1] His father was William Hudson.[1]

Disputed Parentage

According to some researchers, William Hudson may have been the son of Henry II and Barbara Alderman, born on September 30, 1571, in St Andrew Undershaft, England. Not much is known about his life, it is overshadowed by the history of his brother Henry Hudson III the Explorer. William married Alice Turner 19 Nov 1592 and fathered 4 sons, Richard I being but one. He died on April 9, 1630, in England, at the age of 58.[2]

Career

Worked as a Lawyer for the King; High Court at Court... " Text on the Star Chamber ( High Court at Court = approximately to Privy Council and 'born' of the Privy Council ). Herdson's grandson William was a lawyer but he had astounding access to Star Chamber. He summarized ( 'abstracted' ) nearly a full century of prior cases. He must have been trusted to handle such a delicate task. Imagine one man today, abstracting US Supreme Court cases-for us to read. I have his father's will. Still waiting on more texts on transcribing/paleography."[3]

Documented Sons

  1. William Hudson, [4]
  2. Christopher Hudson,[5]
  3. Richard Hudson Sr.[6]
  4. Edward Hudson [7]

Research Notes

  • Some genealogists believe William is actually the son of Henry's brother William. This is noted in "Family Tree Maker" and also by "World Connect." Evidence found by Rhonda Chesser Porter in researching for her father, a genealogist, on her trip to Tamworth and Millom Castle tend to swing the pendulum towards William being a son of Henry II. The works of Ian Chadwick and others also lean in this direction. Perhaps, a few dark secrets will eventually creep through the Castle Walls.
  • This profile has been updated to show William as being baptised in Tamworth, Staffordshire, rather than St Andrew's Undershaft, London. This is because there is no evidence of a baptism for William Hudson in the registers of St Andrew's Undershaft on or near that date, but there is a baptism on 30 September 1571 at Tamworth, Staffordshire;[1] the same place where William married Alice Turner on 19 November 1592.[8] In the 1571 baptism record, the father is William, not Henry. Therefore, this profile has been detached from Henry Hudson Jr and Katherine Elkington and reattached to father William Hudson of Tamworth. Donnelly-2171 08:19, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

The second painting says it's of Henry Hudson and there's a special on History Channel with this same image.

Hello,

Don't mean to spoil the lovely photos however I searched in google lens and it says this man's painting is on display here.https://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O17839/sir-christopher-hatton-portrait-miniature-nicholas-hilliard/ So I don't believe this is a correct painting of Papa.
