He had two marriages: he married Mercy Briggs and , after her death. Martha Briggs.

I have complied fact's given by many researchers. My thanks to Harris Researchers, Bev Cauthens, Pat Mason Harris, Pat Seaver, James Arlandsons, Wilborn family, Bill Pool, Pool family. This is evidence and a time line for William Hudson son of 1 Peter Hudson and Martha unknown Pride, Hudson. As always is subject to new evidence when found. Harris Family researchers have said that William Hudson is said to have lived near William and Judith Hudson Harris through out their lives. Wm. Harris dying 1778/79 and Judith dying 1796/97. This follows William Hudson from Halifax Co. Va to Mecklenburg Co.Va to Laurens Co. South Carolina.

At this time we have not found a time of death for William Hudson only it was after 1809 the date of the last deed of his family. And that it is not the William Hudson of 1813 believe this to be the son of William Hudson who father is Isaac Hudson of Ameila Co. Va. This family does not claim this William to be 1 Peter's son. Can be verified through Hudson Family Ass.

(This term lend is also used in Wm Harris Will with Judith. And then it was only given per her life time.

Research Notes: Doretta Unknown, a Womack research who no longer answer her last email address. Said in her email. I found some early Halifax Co.,VA land surveys in PROPERTY LINES FROM AN OLD SURVEY BOOK - Halifax County, Virginia 1741 to 1901 by Roger C. Dodson (1998). WOMACK listed were: #1 pg 22 or chart 16-E was survey of 4 Feb 1762 for Isham Womack of 302 acres. Survey located in the area between Grassy Creek and Aaron Creek but nearer Grassey Creek and just north of the N.Carolina. border and in the south east corner of today's Halifax Co. VA or south west corner of today's Meckenburg Co. VA. #2 pg 56 or chart 18-A was survey of 14 Nov 1764 for Jacob Womack of 207 acres. Survey located in today's Halifax Co.,VA in the area between Coleman creek and Lawson Creek and north of N.Car. border (about middle in Halifax Co., VA from east to west). #3 pages 92 and 112 or charts 19-H and 20-H was survey of 28 Feb 1753 for Richard and/or John Womack of 400 acres, and then resurvey of 29 March 1792 for Robert Eastham 222 acres sold to Giles Thweet. Survey located in the north east part of today's Halifax C.,VA near Conner Lake and between Hunting Creek and Reedy Creek. These creeks empty into the Staunton River and below these creeks down river is located Bk. Walnut Creek and Clover Creek which also empty into the river. Near Clover Creek a Peter Hudson had a large survey of 4 June 1751 of about 6,310 acres which also included the Staunton River. The survey was near Clover, VA and also there was a survey for an Edward Parker located near Clover. (See pg 106 chart 20-E and pg 108 chart 20-F and pg 110 chart 20-G for Peter Hudson survey). Black Walnut Creek and Clover are mentioned in deeds. The Edward Parker is William Hudson sister Sarah Hudson Parker husband.. Little is know of the Parker family.

Va. Yet he receive land from his father in 1752 in Halifax Co. Va. 1 Peter Hudson was wealthy land owner in Lunenburg and Halifax Co. Va. noted as the oldest son . He would have been 27/29 years old. If all were at least 21 in 1752 the birth of the last child was born ca 1730's. No proof at this time.

I didn't find Orphan Court records for any of 1 Peter children so assume (at least for now) they are all 21 or older by 1752. We know 2 Peter born ca 1723/25, as he was 1 Peter gives son William Hudson 400 acres of land in Lunenburg Co. and Stanton River beginning on Stanton the mouth of Buffalow Creek then up the said Buffalow as high as a branch that is known by the name of Benajers branch and up the sak concluded the above said 400 hundred acres which said land I give to him and his Heirs and Assigns for ever. Researcher note: 1 Peter Hudson also gives nephew Richard Hudson land on Benajers branch of Buffalo Creek. Fourthly Richard Hudson my Nephew Two Hundred Acres in Lunenburg County on Buffaloe Creek above said Beginning at the fork where Benajers Branch makes out of the said Buffalo thence on Buffaloe Creek and on Benajers branch for the Compliment of Two Hundred acres. As per tithe list. "William Hill, gent., is appointed to take the list of tithe able in this County from the mouth of Blew Stone to the mouth of Allen's Creek." (The area of Robert Hudson lll and Christopher Hudson families) When none of these persons are found upon any of the lists for 1752, all the lists being extant, there is a presumption that the family had moved away, or were in that part of the county cut off into another county -- Halifax.. So some could be in Halifax and some in Lunenburg Co. of the same family. As per notes Tithe List.

Cornelius Cargill's List of Tithes 1748 Lunenburg Tax list 1 Peter, Peter jr, James and Daniel with an Overseer Mitchell No William found. Since we don't have Tithe list before 1748. We have no idea what age they are except that they are at least 16 or older living at home unmarried. Once married it is assume they would have their own homes and be on the Tithe list of that dist.

Research Note: This Charles Hudson, the brother of 1 Peter Hudson. If it is, is this the nephew Richard also mention in the Will of 1 Peter? I believe so. This is now proved to be. Will date 1766 Charles Hudson died in Mecklenburg County, Virginia His will is in Will Book 1, Page 25. In this will he names his son John. He gives him all the land on the upper side of the creek concluding the plantation whereon I now live But if he should die before he comes to the age of twenty one or without heir lawfully begotton of his body then I give the said land unto my son Richard. ..Item.I give es unto my son Stephen all the land that I am possessed with on the lower side of the creek being part of the tract I now live on but if he should die before he comes to age of twenty one or without heir lawfully begottten of his body then I give the said land to my son Richard to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give unto my son Richard twenty pounds current money of Virginia to be paid unto him when he comes to the age of twenty one but if either of his brothers dies before they come to the age of twenty one or without heirs my will is that he only have an equal share with the rest of his brothers and sisters.

He names his wife Martha. I DO NOT think the William that some researchers have said was a son of Charles and Martha. He was far too young to be a child of Charles Hudson who died in 1766. In the 1791 Personal Property tax records of Mecklenburg County Martha Hudson with Wm. her son 16. so he was born about 1775. Not possible!

Also information on Robert Hudson family. His Will stating he had son's Robert, William and Ephriam. Lived in the Lower Mecklenburg Co. area. Our William and Judith Hudson lived Upper Mecklenburg Co. Va. I found no William Hudson near 1 Peter Hudson. If the Buffalo Creek deeds are first found in 1745 and 1748. It possible that William Hudson may have been in the Brunswick tithe list? ( NO proof at this time.) Noted: The Keeton family lived close to a John Hudson in Mecklenburg which was noted as having Hudson Mills. So it may be this Hudson family Charles family or Christopher Hudson family.

Bev Harris reseacher: the reason this william hudson is indicated to have been your william hudson or the william hudson, son of peter hudson, sr rather than christopher hudson's son, william hudson, even though christopher hudson witnessed this deed, is that christopher hudson's son william hudson is not indicated to have been born until ca 1745. in 1759, christopher hudson's son, william hudson would have only been about age 14.

1761: Research note: Researching Chavis because William's land of 1782 adjoining Chavis land. From Chavis Family Inter net site. James Chavis. He purchased 100 acres in Mecklenburg County adjoining Christopher Hudson on 9 November 1767 and sold this land to John Hudson on 13 July 1772 [DB 1:521; 3:426] Christopher Hudson had son John Hudson. James Chavis purchased 340 acres on Middle Bluestone Creek on 14 February 1774, and purchased 150 acres adjoining John Hudson and Benjamin Pulliam on 4 March 1779 [DB 4:243; 5:398-9 He was taxable in the upper district of Mecklenburg County on 712 acres from 1782 to 1787, taxable on 430 acres from 1793 to 1798 and taxable on 330 acres until 1809 [Land Tax List 1782-1811A, A lists].

Jacob2 Chavis (Frances, Thomas2, William1, Thomas1), born about 1736, purchased 100 acres in Lunenburg County on the south side of Little Bluestone Creek adjoining Hudson on 6 October 1761 [DB 6:475]. (Unsure of this deed who this Hudson is but believe it is our William Hudson.) He was head of a Mecklenburg County household of 13 "whites" (free persons) and 2 slaves adjoining William Hudson in 1782 [VA:34], taxable on 2 slaves (Cork and Bess), 24 cattle, and 8 horses in 1782.

Research note: Pat Seaver a Harris researcher, tell me that the North Dist is also our Hudson property area . If this is indeed our Wm. Hudson then was married before 15 May 1760 to a Sarah unknown. Also it's possible that Sarah was his second wife. Many times the 1st wife died in child birth. So it is always a possibility. We also assume that every males married at 21 which is not always the case, it's the average. William Hudson's daughter Ursula born 1 Jan 1762 born Lunenburg Co. Va. As proven by DAR for James Pool. Then she married about age 20, 1782 to James Pool in Mecklenburg. Co Va.

1759: Lunenburg Co deed book 5, page 508, 1759:, william harris of lunenburg co, va to william hudson of same for 30 pds, 100 acres on the lower side of the middle fork of bluestone creek, part of 2 tracts granted to henry thweatt and part to william harris 1749, being on william hunt's corner and the land william harris lives on. wit: christopher hudson; joel elam.

Research Note: There seems to be a debate among the Harris researcher whether this is Wm and Judith or William and Frances. Which ever Harris this is, William Hudson is living on the same land he bought in 1759 into 1782-1804. He started with 100 acres bought 624acres in 1783/84. He carried this land of 724 acres until he sold 1793 to son Samuel Hudson 400 acres. He then had 324 acres until selling 1804 324 acres to Samuel Hudson as later shown.

There is 12 years with out Tithe list at least what I can find on Inter net. The 1764 Tithe List only show 1 for Wm Harris and 1 for William Hunt, 2 for William Hudson for Cargill Dist. (Not sure if that means he had 2 males (2 )16 or older or whether that is 1 male and 1 slave)

1765: James Hudson brother of Wm Hudson died between May and July of 1765. William Hudson names appears as one of the parties paid from the estate of this 1765 Will. Part of James Hudson Will in Charlotte Co. VA which was type by a Burton Family researcher. So it may not give us all the detail information. James Burton Jr. was sister to Agnes Burton Hudson. This is proven by the Will of James Burton Sr. Will of Charlotte Co. Va. James Hudson died in Charlotte. Co.Va after May 2, 1765 and Will Proven July of 1765. (Will Book 1, pp. 223-225) This Wm Hill died with out children. November 17, 1775 and April 14, 1777: Mecklenburg County, Virginia. There were some who thought that Sarah, wife of William Hudson was daughter of this Wm Hill. Maybe but not this William Hill as he was unmarried. .

Name: William HILL Given Name: William Surname: Hill Sex: M Birth: 1690 approx. in Henrico (later Chesterfield) Co., Virginia Death: before May 1738 in Chesterfield (Henrico) Co., Virginia Note: William Hill lived on the 437 acre Henrico Co., Virginia plantation he inherited from his father, James Hill I. He and his wife, Martha, had at least six children: James Hill II, John Hill, William Hill (who died childless in Mecklenburg Co. in 1775), Mourning Hill (who married Peter Hudson Jr.), Phoebe Hill (who married Joel Elam, and had nine children), and Martha Hill (who married Edward Loafman).

1778/79: Wm Harris died and left Will in Mecklenburg Co. Va. William Hudson and William Harris, son Reuben Harris were executors of the Will. Since the Will did not deed land or other property to Judith. The term lend was used. According to the Virginia law Judith only had a lifetime interest in the land, not a title and a 1/3 interest in personal property. The Plantation where Judith lived was given to son Robert Harris by Will.

1782: William Hudson daughters Ursula Hudson married James Pool 7/11/1782 in Mecklenburg Co. Va. James Pool was not found by DNA to be a PettyPool. Pool Researchers information. James Pool, Revolutionary War soldier from Mecklenburg County, Virginia to his War pension application, James was born 5 April 1746 (or 56) in Brunswick County, Virginia, and died 29 July 1839 in Lauren Country, South Carolina. He married July 11, 1782 in Mecklenburg Co. Virginia, to Ursula Hudson, daughter of William Hudson of Laurens Country ((I don't know where this came from. Someone have assumed William Hudson was in Laurens Co. at the time ?) James lived on Beaver dam and Horse Creek, tributaries of Reedy River, in south Laurens County. He first appears on deeds in 1790 James named his children in his pension application, namely Rebecca (born 22 April, 1783), William (born 2 Feb 1787), Salley (born 9 Mar 1789), Polly (born 23 June 1791), Gabriel (born 9 November 1793) Betsey (born 6 November 1796), John (born 16 July 1799), and James Jr. (born 15 March 1804) He started selling these lands in 1809 first to son William Pool (See information below on the lands of James Pool)

1782 : According to the 1782 List by Lewis Burwell. Personal Property List. Or from Binns Inter net list B #5, Mecklenburg Co. VA this is the first evidence of a son for William Hudson. Hudson Wm, Hudson Samuel, Andrew 2-1-2-4- 2 males ( 21) 1 slave- 2cows-4 horse and etc. Samuel was at least 21 according to this list. Having him born by at least 1760's.

This is very unclear. First we have a William Hudson with 185 acres living next to Judith Hudson In 1783 we have a William Sr. with 226 but no land transfer. And a William Jr. with 624.

According to White family History, William White's daughter Nancy b.ca.1769,Mecklenberg Co.,marr.2/11/1790 to Samuel Hudson.

1790 Census PP Property (hand written didn't give Dist: list Hudson William, Andrew 16 and Barnett 12 1-1 -1-3 Slaves over 16 counted. Found on Binns Web site: Here we have the evidence that the William Hudson of Mecklenburg is the same William Hudson of South Carolina who gave slave Barnett to daughter Mary Polly and son -in-law .Jeremiah Wilborn.

Samuel Hudson seems to be missing from List in 1790 until 1793 when he buys or receives land from William his father. Since we don't have the deed itself. I don't know if he gave it to Samuel or if Samuel had to buy it. Wonder where Samuel went for a few years after his marriage?

Who is this Sarah Harris that signs with William.? Then is she the one noted as Sarah Hudson on the 1804 deed? No one is sure about the Sarah Harris? Will of Samuel Hudson, dated June 22, 1828 (Mecklenburg W.B. 11, p. 400), mentions daughter Sally Graves, wife of Nathan Graves.

We see a Wm. Hudson Sr. And William Hudson as a Constable. Have not discovered who this Constable William Hudson is.

1797: According to James Arlandson Wilborn researcher. His evidence that Our William Hudson is (1)"I have a deed for Rutherford Co, NC, which matches his bequeathment to Ursula Pool. He bought (land) it in 1797, about the time when Thomas Wilbourn moved to Edgefield SC (2) He fits into the migration of Virginians to SC. Judith Harris died in 1796/1797 and we see Robert her son receiving the 150 acres of that belong to Judith Hudson Harris.

Did William Hudson think he would leave Mecklenburg Co. after Judith Hudson Harris death as to why he bought land in North Carolina?

They were in the 1840 census for West District, Mecklenburg Co., VA, with 2 males 15-20, 1 male 40-50 (Nathan), 1 female 15-20, 1 female 20-30, and 1 female 40-50 (Sally). They were in the 1850 census for Regiment 22, Mecklenburg Co., VA, with Samuel, 27, and Sally, 24, still living with them.

William sold land in Mecklenburg Dec 4, 1804 to his son Samuel Hudson and then bought land in 1805. There is no date on the land bought by William Hudson on Beaver dam except it was 1805/1809 deed. The Will of Samuel Hudson, dated June 22, 1828 (Mecklenburg W.B. 11, p. 400), mentions daughter Sally Graves, wife of Nathan Graves. Research Note: Witness are William Thurmond (Thurmand) and William Huston (Hudson). This William Thurmand witness William Wilborn's Will. And was involved with the Mill of William Wilborn. This researcher say that William who sold land in 1804 in Mecklenburg moved in Rutherford Co. NC then back to Laurens Co. then Edgefield. Dist. It is possible but we have no proof except he sold land in Dec 1804 and bought land 1805 in Edgefield.\ James Arlandson Wilborn researcher says He has deed that land was bought in 1797 in North Carolina.. He could have left Mecklenburg Co but he didn't sale his land there until 1804.. Just unknown at this time.

So we have two sisters. It is very probable that they married two brothers, Jeremiah and William.

November 17, 1775 and April 14, 1777: Mecklenburg County, Virginia. We now know he died between those two dates, surely much closer to the latter one. Of interest to us is his bequest to William Hudson, son of Peter Hudson, deceased. There are two Peter Hudsons alive at this time and in this area. The only one who’s dead is the so-called First Peter (d. by 1753). And in his will he names our William Hudson. So this is evidence that William Hudson married William Hill’s daughter Sarah. (Will Book 1, pp. 223-225)

The will reads:

In the name of God, Amen. I William Hill of Mecklenburg [smudged] being in sound mind & memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, after all my debts are paid;

Item, I give and bequeath to James Elam, Son of Joel Elam and Phebe his wife the tract of Land whereon I now live, including part of the land I had of Samuel Clay, adjoining the same, also the negroes belonging to me at my decease; also my featherbeds [illegible] Kettle Case and all others my household furniture; also twenty head of hogs, twelve head of cattle, six head of Sheep, and two good horses or mares; and if the said James Elam should die without lawful begotten heir my desire is that the said Lands, negroes, stock and all other utensils before mentioned should be sold and equally divided between my sister Martha Loathman’s Children.

Item: I give and bequeath to William Hill the son of James Hill, deceased, fifty pounds current money of Virginia.

Item: I give and bequeath to William Loathman, son of my sister Martha Loathman, my tract of Land I bought of Van’l [?] Mullins, to him & his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to William Hudson, son of Peter Hudson, decd, fifteen pounds current money of Virginia.

Item: my desire is that all the rest and residue of my estate be sold & the money arising be equally divided between the living heirs of Martha Loathman.

Lastly, I nominate my friends William Robertson, Harman Thompson & Henry Robertson Executors of this my last Will & testament, hereby revoking all others by me heretofore made;

In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 17th day of November, one thousand seven hundred & seventy five.

This is evidence and a time line for William Hudson son of 1 Peter Hudson and Martha unknown Pride, Hudson. As always is subject to new evidence when found.

Harris Family researchers have said that William Hudson is said to have lived near William and Judith Hudson Harris through out their lives. Wm. Harris dying 1778/79 and Judith dying 1796/97. This follows William Hudson from Halifax Co. Va to Mecklenburg Co.Va to Laurens Co. South Carolina.

At this time we have not found a time of death for William Hudson only it was after 1809 the date of the last deed of his family. And that it is not the William Hudson of 1813 believe this to be the son of William Hudson who father is Isaac Hudson of Ameila Co. Va. This family does not claim this William to be 1 Peter's son. Can be verified through Hudson Family Ass. 1st evidence of William Hudson is the Will of his father 1 Peter Hudson. This Will was transcribe by a Harris researcher as follows:
