DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Leannah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Leannah:
Leannah was a daughter of John Meador and his wife, Ann. I don't have the family bible, but I have certified copies of the pages where the family names and dates were recorded. The bible originally belonged to Leanah's granddaughter, Elizabeth Green Smithey, and she had copied the names, births & deaths of John & Ann Meador into her bible and had written "Parents of Leanah C. Smithey" underneath. My copies were certified and notarized in 1941, at which time the bible was in the possession of our McCausland cousins in North Carolina.
I should have stated that the reason for this comment is that her last name at birth needs to be changed to Meador. I will scan the notarized copies of the bible pages and upload them here...
