Biography

The date of birth, alleged to have been 29 Dec 1812, appears likely to be in error and to belong to a different Elizabeth Huff. The 29 Dec 1812 date of birth appears to belong to the Elizabeth Huff who was a daughter of not Philip Huff, but of Leonard and Hannah (Bolling) Huff and who was married twice, but not to Benjamin Denton. This conflating of two different Elizabeths seems to appear on a number of individual's family trees, likely from inaccurate assumptions made long ago and since perpetuated.

Philip Huff was surety for Elizabeth's marriage.

Possibly this Elizabeth (Huff) Denton may be the one who was about 52 years old and born in Kentucky, who was enumerated in the 1860 census in Barren County, Kentucky. In the household were John W. Denton, age 19, and Samuel Denton, age 14, both born in Kentucky. IF this was Elizabeth (Huff) Denton, then her approximate year of birth would have been 1808. Also in the household was Sally Anderson, age 48 and born in Kentucky. Nearby, likely adjacent, was the Davy and Mary Denton (both age 25 born in Kentucky) household, with Decatur Denton, age 3 ^[1], born in Kentucky.

Two descendants of Huff-92 (and therefore also related to this individual) were Y-DNA tested but do not participate on WikiTree or have not registered their test results, which indicated Y-DNA haplogroup G-M201 for the directly descended, and presumably ancestral, male line.
