For Charles Huff
Charles Clyde Huff was born in Carlisle, Iowa, July 25, 1900, son of James D. Huff and Emma T. Coles Huff. He died June 10, at Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry.
At an early age he moved with his parents to Eagle Bend, Minn., where he received his education. In 1917 he moved with his parents to a homestead at Provo, S. D.
Charles married Emma E. Bouzek at Rapid City, S. D., July 31, 1926, and they made their home on a ranch at Provo. While there he served on the township board and also as assessor. In 1935 he moved with his family to Copeland after selling the ranch to the federal government for an ammunitions depot.
In 1937 the Huffs purchased the Elmer Osbourne homestead at the foot of Hall Mountain where he engaged in farming and dairying until his retirement in 1965. Charlie lived out his life on the farm, helping younger family members with the farming, fishing and other activities, as his health would permit.
He was an active member of I.O.O.F. Boundary Lodge No. 43 at Porthill, and a member of Utopia Lodge No.36 in Bonners Ferry. He also served as director for several years for the Kootenai Valley Creamery Cooperative, Inc.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one half-brother, five half-sisters, his brother Walter Huff and one granddaughter in infancy.
Survivors include his wife Emma, at their home, a son Charles, Copeland; two daughters, Beverly Cordes, of Boise, and Pauline Bierward, Sedro Wolley, Wash. Also surviving is his sister Abigail Wagoner, of Spokane, and one half-sister, Barbara Morris, of Santa Rose, Calif,; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

From Margie Yongue:
Notes on Charles Huff:
More on gun accident: ON June 24, 2001, I asked Chuck Huff his his dad lost his arm. He told us that his dad (Charles Huff) was adjusting the spotting light with his right hand while riding on the running board of the vehicle and also hanging onto the gun with his left. He was left handed. I don't remember if he said that they hit a bump or not but he accidentally dropped the gun and when it hit, it went off and shot through his right arm. That was in October and Beverly had told me earlier that it was 1926.
