Biography

Permelia's parents were John Huff (c 1785–c1862) and Prudence "Nancy" (Chism or Chisam) Huff (c 1787– c 1849).

Permelia was born 6 Feb 1812 or 1813 in Fentress County, Tennessee.^[1]

Her year of birth was indicated as 1813 by Granville Hough and Max Huff, "JOHN AND PRUDENCE AND SERENA [sic Cyrena] HUFF OF VA, KY, AND TN" dated 8 Apr 1995. (May have been unpublished, or possibly was published in the Huff/Hough Newsletter, which was published by the late Max Huff. Apparent reference was: Pamela (or Permelia) (6 Feb 1813 TN-15 Aug 1865 Pulaski Co, KY) married 26 May 1840 Larum [note: given name needs to be verified, apparently was Hiram] C. MARCUM. Though Methodist, they were buried at Flat Lick Baptist Church Cemetery near Shopville, KY. [Permelia, but not Hiram, is recorded in Find A Grave.] Their minor children in 1866 were Claiborne and Martha, with Martha living in Scott Co, TN.

Permelia (Huff) Marcum passed away 15 Aug 1865 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.^[2]
