Biography

Rushy Luverna Huff, who also went by Luverna, was born 13 May 1856 in Wayne County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of Jesse Huff and Elizabeth "Betty" (Abbott) Huff. Luverna passed away 31 Aug 1887 in Nevelsville, McCreary County, Kentucky.

On 1 Aug 1872 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, Luverna married Daniel Godsey New (8 May 1854 Wayne County, Kentucky - 18 Nov 1940 New Castle, Henry County, Indiana), son of William Riley New (1831–1904). who apparently used his mother's maiden surname (William's parents were Stockton Dodson (1804 – 1912) and Fanny New (1808 – 1870); Stockton had several relationships, not necessarily marriages.) In 1891, Daniel New married again, to Mary Lurinda (Griffis) New (1869 – 1959) and more children.
