Flora was the fifth child of James W and Elizabeth Huff. Before 1863, her family relocated to Moroa, just north of Decatur, Illinois. There, she was married on December 27, 1877 to George Taylor, a man who came in 1864 with his parents from England. Before 1880 they relocated to northeast Kansas, along with her parents and most of her siblings. They had three sons - Earl, Lester and Vernon, all born in Kansas. In the early months of 1906 she took sick and died at her home in Wetmore, Kansas with a catarrh of the stomach. She was buried in the Seneca City Cemetery.
