Joseph Van Buskirk, the father of our subject, was born in Kentucky in 1794, and came to Indiana about 1815; he was a blacksmith and pursued his trade for some time, and subsequently engaged in farming; he was married in Wayne County, Ind., in 1816, to Miss Mollie Huff; he located in Tipton County about 1844, and here resided until his death, which occurred in June, 1866.
