DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Maria by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Maria:
Huff-2605 and Huff-2510 appear to represent the same person because: Same person (but had been under an alternate spelling, Maria), both individuals profiled married to Martin Bower, etc. There are a few other discrepancies: Mariah was more likely born in Franklin Co, VA than Floyd Co. (her father was in Franklin in the 1830 census & his father there for decades until his death). I just settled on plain ole Virginia as place of birth, with a note re Franklin Co. in the bio section. Also, Martin's birth & death places have discrepancies with Find A Grave (which seems more likely info, but I didn't check for verifications in FamilySearch) indicated him born in Franklin Co. as well, and also that his death was in Crab Orchard, Raleigh County.
