Samuel HUFF (1775 Virginia - 3 Apr 1855 Westerfield's Mill, Kentucky, age 79) was a farmer and is considered to be a son of William and Mary (HUNGATE) HUFF of Virginia and Kentucky.
He md (1) on 23 June 1806 in Mercer County, Kentucky, his first cousin, Polly Ann HUNGATE[1] (c 1775 Augusta Co, Virginia - c 1808 Mercer Co, Kentucky), dau of Charles and Mollie (HALE) HUNGATE. (Another source gives Polly Ann's parents as John and Elizabeth (HALE) HUNGATE. This source indicated that John HUNGATE took care of his widowed mother, Nancy HUNGATE, in her final years when she became deranged over the loss of two of her daughters during an Indian raid.) No children are known for Polly Ann.
Samuel married (2) on 10 Oct 1809 in Mercer County, Kentucky, to Larana HIGH[2], parents not known. No children are known, although census records indicate there may have been some.
Samuel md (3) on 19 Mar 1817 to Elizabeth VAN ARSDALE[3] (1780 KY - 3 Apr 1855 ), and their children included:
Eliza Huff (1818 Kentucky - ) Unmarried with parents in 1850. In 1848, they deeded her 48 acres of land.
poss. John Huff (1821 Kentucky - 1852 Kentucky) listed next to Samuel and Elizabeth in 1850 as a likely son. He married Jane BLACK and had Elizabeth; Daniel; and Samuel in 1850. After his death, his land was conveyed to John S. PATTERSON.
Mary Huff relationship unknown. (1805 Virginia - 12 Aug 1853, Westerfield's Mill, Kentucky). Unless the age is wrong, she would have been too old to be daughter of Samuel, and the state of birth would be wrong.
In 1850, Marlary CAREY (1844 KY) was with Samuel and Elizabeth as a possible grandson.
In 1848, Samuel Huff purchased from the heirs the 100 acres of land on Chaplin Fork in Mercer County which had been owned by his brother, William HUFF, Jr, who apparently died without children. The heirs were his brothers and sisters and heirs of his deceased brothers and sisters. The quit claim was signed by Henry HAYNES; James T. TILFORD and Sarah TILFORD; Farmer DEWEESE and Nancy DEWEESE; John HAYNES; Hardin HAYNES; William HAYNES; Charles L. HAYNES; William BANNON; Lewis HUFF and Polly HUFF; James BANNON; John BANNON; George BROOKS Elizabeth BROOKS; Samuel Haynes; and J. E. (Josiah Ellis) HAYNES. From Grayson County were Henry HAYNES; James & Sarah TILFORD; Farmer & Nancy DEWEESE; from Daviess County were Samuel HAYNES; from Hancock County were John HAYNES; Hardin HAYNES; William HAYNES; Charles L. HAYNES; Jesse HAYNES; William BANNON; Lewis HUFF & Polly HUFF; James BANNON; George and Elizabeth BROOKS; and John Barton HAYNES; and from Gibson County, Indiana, were John and Polly ERWIN. (The other heirs for Charles HUFF or other nieces or nephews are likely on other records.)
In 1851, Samuel and Elizabeth sold to Nancy CLARK for $900.00 a tract of land.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:
I knew I'd seen Susanna High md Samuel Huff somewhere. So... seems Susannah was second marriage (between Hungate and Van Arsdale) for (see better profile) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Huff-1836 Susanna is mentioned in the text bio of Huff-1836 as Lurana but referenced footnote says Susanna. Sure would be great if submitter or someone would supply more info and sources re the 3 children!
