The aged pioneer mother had been ill for some time with asthma and heart troubles, the former contributing to the unsuccessful treatment of the latter.
Mary Elizabeth Huffman was born on July 23rd, 1853, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and therefore at the time of her death was 81 years, 9 months and 16days of age. When but a child in 1864, she came west with her parents, settling in Galva, Illinois. There she received her education and grew into womanhood. On September 25th, 1874, she was united in marriage to Charles W. White. The happy couple lived near Kewanee until the spring of 1888, when, with their young and growing family, they came to Minnesota, settling near Woodstock, in Murray County.
