Sallie Hughes married Joseph Martin on 27 April 1810[1]. They had 12 children.
Sallys' son, Joseph Martin, wrote to her from Harvard that a particular part of Harvards' famous "Yard" reminded him of "Greenwood". He became Commonwealth Attorney of Pittsylvania County, VA. He married Susan Pannill, whose cousin, "Jeb" Stuart, attended the wedding in his West Point uniform.
Mary, a daughter of Col. and Mrs. Joseph Martin (Sally Hughes) of "Greenwood" married Thomas McCabe.
She passed away in 1883 in Henry, Virginia. She is buried at the Martin Cemetery at Leatherwood (plantation of her father-in-law).
