He was engaged in the milling business and left Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1863, locating at the old McClelland mill, three miles east of Mercer, where he operated the mill until he moved to Millbrook, going later to the old Adams mill, and finally to Jackson Center, where he built and operated a mill until he retired, at the age of seventy-two years.
