Biography

The death has occurred of Thomas Hughes of Scregg, Kilkerrin, Ballinasloe, Galway County, Ireland (better known as Tom), Scregg, Kilkerrin, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway; at University Hospital, Galway. He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary, daughters Kathleen Hannon (Dunmore, IRL), Bridie Reilly (Longford, IRL) Ann Mc Gann (Clonberne, IRL) and Maureen Mc Auliffe (Limerick, IRL), sons Padraig and Michael, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law and Padraig's partner Frederique, his 10 grandchildren, sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Cherished brother (all in the USA) of the late John (Winnie), Bridie (the late Tom) Masterson, Mae (the late Nick) Rochford, Chris (Jim) Butler, Maggie (Ed) Heidekruger and the late Ann (the late Patrick, Sr.) Casey.

Due to government restrictions during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, a private Funeral Mass took place in St. Joseph’s Church, Kilkerrin on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 1:30pm for family and friends. Burial afterwards in Kilkerrin Cemetery. Mass was broadcast on Kilkerrin Radio. House private please. "May he rest in eternal peace". Published Friday, 07 August 2020.

"Our sincere sympathies to you, Mary, and your entire family on the passing of Tom. We remember him fondly visiting with our family (Kathleen Hughes Gaughan) on our two visits from the USA on the occasion of our family’s anniversary trip in 1998 and again on the occasion of your daughter’s wedding (Kathleen I believe) in about October, 2002. You and Tom were all so very kind and friendly. We had GREAT visits and a fabulous time at the wedding. Tom was a kind and great man. May he Rest In Eternal Peace." ^[1]
