Biography

The J.H. Himmelman ed. document says that the Hughey family raised Homer, a child born out of wedlock to Tessie Himmelman (daughter of John Henry Himmelman, who was the son of John David Himmelman & Christianna Hughey). The document also notes: "The marriage with Christianna Hughey was on 12 Dec. 1814 in the Dutch Reform Church and again on 27 Dec. 1814 in the Presbyterian Church. The second wedding was a double ceremony with her [groom's] step-sister, Elizabeth. (Why the second marriage?)" (That is, Elizabeth Barbara Himmelman.)^[1]
