Biography

European Aristocracy
Robert Hungerford was a member of the aristocracy in England.

Robert Hungerford, 3rd Lord Hungerford (1428-1464) was the son of Robert Hungerford, 2nd Lord Hungerford and Margaret de Botreaux, 4th Baroness Botreaux. A page is maintained for him on wikipedia and Luminarium: Encyclopaedia Project.

Richardson[1] provides that his birth can be dated to 1428/1429 on the basis of being aged 30 in 1459, when he released from imprisonment, after ransom, in France.

In 1452 Hungerford accompanied John Talbot, 2nd Earl of Shrewsbury, to Aquitaine, and was taken prisoner at the Battle for Guienne while endeavouring to raise the siege of Chastillon.

He was captured at the Battle of Hexham on 15 May 1464 and then executed (by beheading) at Middleham, Yorkshire, for treason, on 18 May 1464.

He is buried in Salisbury Cathedral.

Robert Hungerford, Knt., born about 1429. He married before 5 Nov. 1440 Eleanor Moleyns, daughter and heiress of William Moleyns, Knt., by Anne, daughter of John Whalesborough, Esq. They had three sons, Thomas, Knt., Walter, and Leonard, and one daughter, Frideswide (living 1469).

Thank you!

Based on the marriage date, shouldn’t the DOB for Thomas be 1447 and not 1437? The dates don’t work with 1437.
