Biography

Pheobe is the daughter of Thomas Hunt and Ann Henson. She appears in the Jackson Family Bible list as one fo the "Hunt 14", one of the 14 children of Dr. Thomas Hunt of Bedford County Virginia.

Pasted in a Jackson Family Bible owned by Mrs. Wilkes of Springfield, TN is a list of 14 Hunt siblings; this list was transcribed by Esli S. Jackson in 1859 but originally recorded around 1830 in Franklin County, GA. The only known direct family reference to Thomas Hunt as being the father of these 14 siblings comes through an account of this bible, described by William M. Hunt of Fairport, NY: Family genealogist Jewell Eubank had copied the list after the bible was discovered by researchers in 1959.[1]

Copied from Bible Records assembled by the Mississippi Society D.A.R., Compiled by Mrs. Edith Stephens.[2]
Below is detail for PHOEBE as listed on the Bible record chart:
--- Phoebe: b.1776, The Bible is in the DAR application of Culbertson.

She passed away in 1864.[3]

DNA

The DNA for this family can be found in the Hunt DNA Group Project. R-M269, Group 147, The Hunt 14. At this time there is no connection between this family and any other family in the DNA Group Project. The closest family groups are a minimum of 4GD at 37 Markers.

Research Notes

This appears to be two different families misattributions. The family of Dr. Thomas Hunt of Bedford County, Virginia who married and Ann (presumably Henson) has been incorrectly connected to the Family of Thomas Elwwod Hunt of Westchester, NY. The DNA of Thomas Elwood's descendants do not match the Dr. Thomas Hunt of Virginia Genetically.

The name Elwood has not been associated with Dr. Thomas hunt of Bedford County Virginia, nor has the last name of his wife Anne been associated with the name Mattingly. If there is documentary evidence of this name for Ann it would smash down a brick wall which has eluded researchers for centuries! Please post if there is anything.

Mags - WikiTree defines end of colony as 4 July 1776, so Phoebe just missed. If her profile needs to be protected, please contact the United States Project/sub-project Virginia.

Cheers, Liz

Thanks Liz - It's more that she is a child of Thomas Hunt that makes her need protecting. Thomas and his children have been mixed in with a family in Westchester NY a few times and when it happens it's a mess to clean-up. So she is pulled in as his child. Still no protection?

She's out of scope for US Southern Colonies. Give William Foster a holler about Virginia Project picking her up to support PPP. Her father's already PPP under US Southern Colonies. If his wives need PPP and/or project management also, please fill out the form to request it at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:US_Southern_Colonies_Managed_Profile_Requests

Hunt-12011 and Hunt-1058 appear to represent the same person because: Merging Pheobe into the family of Dr. Thomas Hunt of Virginia. She is listed as his daughter in the Jackson Family Bible. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:Jackson_Family_Bible&public=1#The_Hunt_14

Tina I see that your line is through Pheobe who is the daughter of Dr. Thomas Huntof Virginia, father of the Hunt 14 - I'll get things rolling on getting your Pheobe merged into the correct parents and family - thomas Elwood Hunt is a relic of a misattribution of Dr. Thomas hunts children to the Thomas Elwood hunt Family of Westchester, NY.
