Biography

Peter Hunt, son of Enoch Hunt, was baptised on 4 July 1619 in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England.[1][2]

Peter's father, Enoch, was from the parish of Lee in Buckinghamshire, England, and emigrated to New England, settling in Weymouth, Massachusetts, by 1640. Peter was born in England and emigrated with his family. Enoch Hunt returned to England in the 1640s, while his sons Ephraim and Peter remained in New England.[3]

Peter Hunt settled in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, where in 1643 he was one of the first purchasers of land. He married Elizabeth Smith at Rehoboth on 14 December 1646.[3][4]

Peter died on 21 October 1692 in Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts.[5] His burial location is unknown.[6]

Will

In his will dated 19 June 1689 and proved 26 December 1692, Peter Hunt gives bequests to eldest son Enoch, sons John, Ephraim and Benjamin, daughters Judith Williams (and her sons Nathaniel and Thomas Cooper), son-in-law Samuel Peck, son-in-law James Willett, granddaughters Ann Paine, Sarah Peck, beloved wife Elizabeth.[7]

Hunt-3833 and Hunt-1567 appear to represent the same person because: Both represent the Peter Hunt, son of Enoch, who was baptised on 4 Jul 1619 in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, and came to New England to settle in Rehoboth.

Thank you Cindy. Are there specific source citations from this document that you think would be helpful to add to the profile?

I think his military service might be mentioned, as well as the fact the he is a proven ancestor for the Society of Colonial Wars.

Peter might be the Peter baptized 4 Jul 1619 Great Missenden, Buckingham, England father Enoch. Lee is 2 miles from Great Missenden and likely was too small to have it's own church thus the baptism in Great Missenden.

Hunt-4393 and Hunt-1567 appear to represent the same person because: After adding biographical information to Hunt-1567, I found the profile for Enoch Hunt and discovered the Hunt-4393 is a profile for the same person as Hunt-1567. Please merge.
