Thomas Hunt was born about 1540 in Leicestershire, England[citation needed]. As of 2021 his parents remain unknown.
On 16 October 1560, Thomas married Alice Pollarde in the church of St. Nicholas.[1]
Thomas was admitted to the freeman's guild as a pistor in 1563.[2] Thomas Hunt was one of three fish testers for the city of Leicester in 1593-1594.[3] His son, Thomas became a baker's apprentice and freeman in 1598-1599.[4] In a charter granted by Queen Elizabeth on June 1 to "ratify, etc., or create anew the said Mayor and burgesses of the borough of Leicester "into another body corporate and politic" with additional liberties, Thomas Hunt was named in the "Company of eight and forty" burgesses called the Common Council of the borough of Leicester to "help the Mayor and Alderman in all matters touching the borough."[5]
On 31 October 1599, instructions were issued concerning a suit brought by Thomas Hunt, Roger Hall, and other bakers of Leicester.[6]
Hall Papers II, No. 736. (Oct. 31, 1599.)
Suit to the Common Oven.
After our hartie commendacions, whereas certaine variances have latelie depended in the Duchie Chamber at Westminster, betwene Thomas Hunt, Roger Hall, and others bakers of your towne, plaintiffs, and William Beckett weaver of the same towne, defendant, aboute the baking of spiced breade and cakes and other smale thinges of like nature, not therby withdrawing suche sute as, with baking of his other breade, is due to the common backhowse there, wherewith the saide bakers seeme not to be contented: In respecte whereof we are to require yow, yat yow take suche order with the saide bakers, that yow and they permitt the saide Beckett to bake suche smale thinges (as he hath vsed in your towne) in his owne howse, as divers others in that towne have done, which in our opinyons maie be done in some measuer, considering how the price of corne is fallen, withoute preiudice either to your corporacion or the said bakers of the said towne. Of your accomplishment whereof in some moderate sorte we doe not doubte. From Westminster, this last of October, 1599.
Your loving frendes
Rob. Clerke
Jo. Savile
Ja. Brograve
Whether or not the timing of this judgement had to do with Soul Cakes on Hallow's Eve (aka Halloween) is not known. In 1599-1600, son Richard became a freeman and apprentice to Thomas.[7]
Again in 1602-1603, Thomas was one of the company of "The Forty-eight" members of the Common Council of the borough of Leicester.[8]

My name is George William Hunt (Hunt-21966) and a direct descendent of Deacon Jonathan Hunt of Northampton, MA, son of Thomas Hunt III and Margaret (Webster) Hunt of Leicester England. I am new to WikiTree and have started to construct my family tree. I have family first-hand information on 10 generations of my Hunt pioneering family in America starting with: Jonathon Hunt, Ebenezer Hunt, Simeon Hunt, Gad Hunt, Elijah Hunt, Horace Hunt, Sanford Hunt, William Hunt, Theron Hunt, and Yes, George Hunt. I would appreciate it if I can be added to the trusted list for Thomas Hunt Sr. 1540-1606 (Mgr. Ellen Gustafson) Thomas Hunt Jr. 1567-1620 (Mgr. Billy Huff) and Thomas Hunt III 1604-1642 (Robert Kennedy).
I probably should have my DNA taken so we can better trace my heritage and share that inflation. I have already posted 130 family members and will continue to add more.

Thanks for the consideration, Barb
The duplicate dates were left from a merge with a biography of a "Thomas Hunt" without correction. I'll make the correction.
