Biography

Gilbert was the son of Wallace and Irene Hunt. He grew up in Bay Lake Township, Crow Wing County, Minnesota^[1] where his father was a carpenter.^[2]

Gilbert was a high school senior when he registered for the draft in 1943.^[3]He enlisted in the US Navy and served in World War II and in the Korean War.^[4]

He married Shirley Potter in Brainerd, Minnesota when he was 39 years old.^[5]

Gilbert died at age 70 in Crow Wing County, Minnesota.^[6]He is buried in Bay Lake Cemetery, Deerwood, Minnesota.^[7]
