Biography

Charles was the son of Catherine Jane Dickson and Andrew Richard Hunt of Gisborne.

He firstly worked as a Cycle Repairer at Waihi in the Waikato.

Charles married Ethel Annie Tosh in 1914 at Tuatapere, Southland but the marriage didn't last and they agreed to separate in 1930. Charles and Ethel never lived together after this time and entered into a formal separation in 1932. A Decree Nisi was to be proved absolute in October 1935.

One known child was born during their marriage, John Dickson Hunt. No birth record was sourced for John.

During the mid 1910's Charles worked for WJP Mcculloch as a Motor Salesman in Dunedin. In the 1930's he was employed as an Engineer.

In December 1917 he was called up in the 2nd Division Draft. The following year, in April , his employer applied for an extension of leave for Charles, his workforce being severely depleted after 13 or so men had already been sent to the Front.

In 1935, Charles remarried on Xmas Eve at St. Clair, to Lucy Moira Heni MacLean, youngest daughter of George and Mary MacLean.

Charles was now employed as a Land Agent. He and Lucy purchased a property, 'Netley' at Waverley in 1938.

The following year saw the birth of their only child in their marriage, Moira Jane.

Charles Hunt died in 1965 age 78 at Dunedin. CREMATION.[1]
