In 1917, James registered for the WWI draft in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. He was married with two children at the time of the draft. He was working as a machinist for the Lewelleyan Iron Works. His physical description was noted as 5" 9", medium build, gray eyes, black hair and two thumbs on his left hand.[1]
In 1942, James registered for the WWII draft in El Segundo, Los Angeles, California. He was working for the Standard Oil Company. The person who would always know his address was G T Hunt.[2]
