Neva was born in Traverse City Michigan to Mary E. Nephew and Charles B. Hunt.[1] She grew up in Traverse City with two sisters and three brothers, all close.[2],[3] Her daughter Mary Jane said that during the Roaring Twenties Neva often dressed as a stylish ‘flapper.’ She married Burton Taylor on February 2, 1932 in Traverse City, Michigan[4], and moved with him to his home state, first to New Castle, Pennsylvania (Union Township)[5], and then Mercer, Pennsylvania. She was hard-working and quite busy managing a household, especially after Burton went blind from Diabetes. She helped Burton with his bakery business. She had an enigmatic, even fey side to her personality. On more than one occasion, she would say "Oh, that's so-and-so," pick up a phone and say “hello” and name the caller, all before the phone even had a chance to ring. The startled person would indeed be on the other end of the line. When they retired she moved with Burt to a house near New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, and then to an apartment in New Castle. Neva suffered a cerebral hemorrhage that left her only partly lucid, and was moved to the Overlook nursing home in New Wilmington where she stayed for over seven years. She died 17 May 1987.
