Biography

William H Hunt was enumerated at 56th Subdivision, Madison County, Georgia for the August 14, United States Census, 1850. He was noted as born 1843 in Georgia as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Joel Hunt, female Rebecca M Hunt, female Mary P Hunt, female Sarah J Hunt, female Rebecca E Hunt, male James F Hunt and male Thos J Hunt.[1]

William H Hunt was enumerated at Danielsville Post Office, Madison County, Georgia for the June 25, United States Census, 1860. He was noted as born 1843 in Georgia. He was a farmer as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Joel Hunt, female Rebecca Hunt, female Rebecca E Hunt, male James F Hunt, male Thomas J Hunt, male Jackson O Hunt, male Joseph M Hunt, male John B Hunt and female Martha E Hunt.[2]

Enter a personal reminiscence or story.
At the start of the war between the states, William, his father Joel and his younger brother James, joined the Montgomery Rifiles. That later became co. A 3rd Georgia Infantry. William died in a war prison in Elmiria_NY Feb 23, 1865.James died in battle Sept. 1, 1863. Joel was wounded and discharged as disabled in August 1862.
