Predeceased by his parents Hamilton and Gertrude (Lobb) Hunter as well as sibling twins, Evelyn and Ernest, his sister Queenie MacLean, brothers Stanley and Arthur (both WWII POWs captured in Hong Kong, Christmas Day 1942) Beloved husband and best friend of Sarah Sally Hunter (nee Ferenczi) for 60 wonderful years. Loving father of John Hunter (Carolyn) of Flint, MI; Joan Hunter of Essex, Kimberley Sochaski (David) of Cartersville, GA. Cherished grandfather of Christine Miller (Brant) of Cowan, TN; Veronica Bulmer (Chris) of Essex, Lori Myers (Tony) of Flint, MI; Jake and Brett Sochaski. Adored great-grandfather of Matthew and Tyler Miller, Jeffrey and Sarah Bulmer. Loving uncle of David and Bill Hunter of B.C., and Gordon MacLean of WA. If you so desire, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Windsor Regional Hospitals and Dr. D. Sijan. John served his country during WWII in the RCAF as a Radar and Communications Instructor (W.O.G.) A member of the RCAF Association, member-at-large, he loved reading, woodworking and traveling. He was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humour and will be greatly missed. Visitation Monday 7-9 p.m., Tuesday 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday 10 a.m. under the auspices of the W.V.M.S.C. at Families First Funeral Home & Tribute Centre, (519-969-5841) 3260 Dougall Avenue. Cremation to follow.
