Kentigern (Huntar) Huntar XVIth of Hunterston is a member of Clan Hunter.

Kentigern (Huntar) Huntar XVIth of Hunterston was Killed in Action during the Rough Wooing at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh.

Kentigern Mungo Huntar was born about 1515 in Hunterston Castle, Ayrshire, Scotland and his parents were Robert Huntar and Janet Montgomerie. [1]

Kentigern was also called "Mungo Huntar"
Kentigern = "hound lord"

Kentigern Mungo Huntar of Hunterston married Marion Hamilton (daughter of James Hamilton of Torrance). [1]

He was the 16th Laird of Hunterston.

Kentigern Huntar was in military service in "our sovereign ladys army at Dumbarton on the 11th of July 1545, at the seige of the Castle".

On 10 Sep 1547 he fought at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh [1] on the banks of the River Esk in Muselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. He died that day as a young father of 32 years.

The "Names of the Ayrshire Gentlemen Who Fell at Pinkie" lists "Quintin Hunter of Hunterston". [2]

He was followed by Robert Huntar, 17th Lord of Hunterston+2 who died on 29 Aug 1581.

16th Laird: Kentigern (Mungo) Huntar http://clanhunter.org.uk/family-tree.html As his father's health was dwindling so the powers and titles were transferred. Married to Marion, daughter of James Hamilton, of Torrance, Co. Lanark. He took the clan to assist with "'our sovereign lady's army at Dumbarton on the 11th of July 1545, at the siege of the Castle." Mungo died at the faith and peace of Queen Mary under her standard at the Battle of Pinkie 10th of September 1547 together with an unknown number of clansmen during a preliminary skirmish on the hill of Fallside. Mungo's brother-in-law, John Crawford, was also killed with him. Mungo had two sons, Robert and John. Marion continued to live at Hunterston for 48 years.
