I noticed you have a strong interest with HAMILTONs. I then compared our GEDmatch numbers and noticed that we are distant cousins. I don’t consider myself a DNA expert but I do understand enough for me to decipher that we are distant cousins with a possible HAMILTON as our common ancestor. The reason I say this is because I am matching several individuals on AncestryDNA with the surname HAMILTON.
My Hamiltons most probably migrated from Scotland to Ireland to Canada sometime during the early 1800s.
Although distant to one another based on our GEDMATCH comparison, it would be great if we could collaborate and find our mutual ancestor, most probably a Hamilton.
Take care,
Enrique Treat Gleason
Thanks for your note. When comparing Gedmatch number I don't reduce the values below the defaults so when I compare your kit and mine (the tool that says "People who match both kits, or 1 of 2 kits") the result comes up as no shared DNA. When I look at the kits that we share some relationship with they generally come in at 5 generations away in all cases. Unfortunately only one of those has a tree attached but when I look at that most of the ancestors lived "in the South" and I have a quite a number that were from those States as well, particularly around Georgia but they weren't Hamiltons. Even looking at the 5 generation level I can't see any likely candidates. On the male line your haplogroup is R-A660 while mine in I-L338 which totally rules out any direct male line connection which is to be expected given your extensive Gleason line. It is unfortunate that (from a brief search) none of the Hamiltons on your tree have a descendant who has done a basic Y-chromosome test. From the information you have on your profie I see that the Hamiltons don't appear until the 10th generation. I have Hamiltons in Tyrone in the 1700's, yours are from Londonderry but mine arrived in the US a generation before yours. Your Hamiltons went to Massachusetts and seemed to generally stay around there or on the east coast whereas mine went to Virginia and either stayed there or headed west then south. Other than the above I can't work out where the relationship might be. John H

I have looked high and low and can't see any of the requests for addition to various trusted lists. Perhaps you need to send them again. What's your interest in Mick Campbell - any information you have about him would be greatly appreciated. John H
I think I need you email address to add you to any trusted lists, if not can you tell me how to do it otherwise? Have been sick as the proverbial of late so have been pretty slack. I guess my twilight is moving me closer to full sundown. JH
About a month ago I submitted a trusted list request for Beryl Margaret Peasley. Do you mind taking a few moments to add me? I'd like to add some source information to her profile.
