As a young man, William Huntington served in the Revolution in Connecticut forces. He enlisted 1 April 1777 in the company of Capt. Hinkley of the Connecticut line. He was appointed fifer on 7 October 1778 and discharged 1 March 1780.[8]
William received a pension related to his war service. On 11 September 1832, William Huntington aged seventy-five of Watertown provided a statement related to his application. He enlisted as a fifer from Tolland on 1 April 1777 in the company of Capt. Ichabod Hinkley in a regiment commanded by Col. Charles Webb. He was discharged 23 February 1780. Specific areas of service or movements during service were not reported in the pension file.[9]
Prescinda and William likely married in Connecticut but relocated to New Grantham, New Hampshire soon after their marriage. William purchased property in New Grantham prior to his marriage. On 8 March 1781, William Huntington of Tolland, Connecticut, for payment of £25, purchased a 60-acre lot in New Grantham from Nathaniel Kingsbury of Tolland.[10]
Births of seven children of Prescinda and William are recorded at Grantham. William headed a household of eight at New Grantham, New Hampshire in 1790: two males 16 and over, four males under 16 and two females.[11]
The family moved from Grantham to Watertown, New York in 1804.[12] William sold his property in New Grantham on 21 May 1803 and 15 September 1803.[13] William was engaged in manufacturing and milling. After the War of 1812, he moved to an area known as Huntingtonville.[14] William was active in the Congregational church in Watertown and served as a trustee of the Watertown Ecclesiastical Society.[15]
On 7 October 1808, William Huntington of Watertown with wife Prescindia, in consideration of $180, conveyed thirty acres which were part of great lot number 14 of township number 2 to Alanson Dyer. On that same date, Alanson Dyer with his wife Elvira (Prescinda’s sister) sold thirty acres of lot 14 of township 2 to William Huntington for $130.[16]
In 1820, William headed a household of ten in Watertown: one male 45 and over, one female 45 and over, one male 10 to 15, four males 16 to 25, one female under 10, one female 10 to 15, and one female 16 to 25.[17]
William was involved in multiple land transactions in Watertown. Two of them involved transfer of property to his son Ambrose W. Huntington. On 25 December 1826, William and his wife Elvira, in consideration of five hundred dollars, conveyed to Ambrose one undivided half of property including the sawmill and one undivided half of all the water privileges on both sides of the island in the Black River. On 6 November 1828, William with Elvira sold additional parcels to Ambrose for payment of three thousand dollars.[18]
On 14 July 1842, Dyer Huntington was named administrator of William’s estate.[19]
Prescinda Lothrop and William Huntington were parents of seven children born at Grantham, New Hampshire.[20]

ii DYER HUNTINGTON, b. 13 Feb 1786; d. at Watertown, NY, 8 Aug 1851; m. 14 Sep 1820, ELIZA ANN CLARK, b. at Little Falls, NY, 25 Dec 1800 daughter of Joseph and Susanna (Phillips) Clark; Eliza d. at Watertown, 3 Jan 1886. In 1850, the household of Dyer Huntington included his mother-in-law, Susanna Clark.[21]

Elvira and William Huntington were parents of one child. Elvira had eight children with her first husband Alanson Dresser.
