Biography
Maria was born in 1877. Her birth was registered in Barton Regis and her mother's maiden name was Connell. [1]
On 5 August 1899 Maria Huntly and Henry Charles Deverell married in Kingsdown, Bristol. Henry was a decorator as was his father George. Maria's father William was a Bootmaker. William Henry Huntly and Ethel Susan Huntly were witnesses. [2]
Research Note
There were 2 Maria Huntley's registered in 1877/1878 in Barton Regis, the other Maria had a mother's maiden name Smart.
This Maria's father was William, A Boot/Shoe Maker (from her marriage certificate), the other Maria's father (also William), married to Mary Jane Smart, was an Engine Fitter.
One of Maria's witnesses at her marriage was Ethel Susanna. She was born in 1882 and her a mother's maiden name Connell.
Despite this Maria gave her birth date as 17 Jun 1878 on the 1939 Register although people often knocked a year or so off their age!
