Biography

Samuel Huntley, son of John Huntley and Elizabeth (Pearson) Huntley, was born 23 Dec 1713 at Lyme, Connecticut.[1]

He married Ruth Huntley, his first cousin, daughter of Aaron Huntley and Deborah (DeWolf) Huntley, on 5 May 1736, at Lyme, Connecticut.[2]

Samuel died about 11 May 1770, in Lyme[3] and was buried at Old Fox Farm Cemetery No. 17, East Lyme, New London County, Connecticut.

His estate was administered by Elijah Smith and Isaac Tubbs, and receipts of bequests were signed by his children, Benjamin, Samuel, Aaron, Solomon, Hezekiah, Molly Chapman, Ruth and Hepsibah[3]

Samuel Huntley received a gift of land from his father on 13 Jan 1736, adjoining the land of his brother, Benjamin, He also bought land from his brother Joseph in New London and three of his children were born there. He returned to Lyme about 1745.[4]

Ruth Huntley died on June 15, 1805 and is buried in the old Fox Farm Cemetery in Lyme, New London, Connecticut, USA.

  2. Hepsebeth Huntley was born on October 9, 1738. Died young
  3. Benjamin Huntley was born in New London, Lyme, Connecticut on March 3, 1741.
  4. Molley Huntley was born in New London, Lyme, Connecticut on August 12, 1743. She married on May 26, 1765 Edward Champman.
  5. Ruth Huntley was born in New London, Lyme, Connecticut on March 6, 1745.
  6. Samuel Huntley was born on March 11, 1747.
  7. Lemuel Huntley was born on November 7, 1748. Died young.
  8. Esther Huntley was born on February 2, 1750.
  9. Aaron Huntley was born on November 4, 1752.
  10. Hezekia Huntley was born on May 20, 1754.
  11. Hepzebeth Huntley was born on June 2, 1756. Married Zopher Mack.
  12. Solomon Huntley was born in Lyme on January 7, 1761.[5]
