Biography

Solomon Huntley was born in New London, Lyme, Connecticut on January 7, 1761. He is the son of Samuel Huntley and Ruth Huntley.

Private Solomon Huntley served with 1st Connecticut Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Solomon Huntley is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A060804.

Solomon enlists in the Revolutionary War on June 7, 1777 in Connecticut, serving three years in Capt. Benjamin Throop's Regiment, "First Battalion of Foot from the State of Connecticut." His War Pension was approved on April 7, 1818 while residing in Onondaga, New York.

In "Genealogies of Connecticut Families," the Author Gary Boyd Roberts, suggests that Solomon is residing in Bennington, Vermont in 1790 with four sons and four daughters and that he later moves to New York.

Solomon marries first to Ruth Unknown.

In the Revolutionary War Pension files it is shown that an Abigail A. (Plato) Huntley is the widow of Solomon Huntley (and second wife) and that she states that they were married on February 12, 1835 in Syracuse, New York.

Solomon Huntley dies on March 4, 1847 in De Witt, Onondaga, New York.
