Biography

Elsie Hurd, daughter of Arthur Hurd and his wife, Lottie Simpson was born in Leeds in 1890. ^[1]

Her father died in 1900^[2] and at the following census Elsie and her sister, Louisa were living with their grandparents, Joseph Simpson and his wife, Mary Baines. ^[3] In 1911 she was back living with her mother, working as a costume trimmer. ^[4]
