Biography

Marenia is the daughter of Franklin Hurd and Mary Page born in Burlington, Maine 26 Aug 1900??? My grandmother always stated she was born in 1899. According to the 1900 census she was born May 1899.^[1]

Marenia married Leon Sibley on June 29, 1915 in Old Town, Maine.^[2]

She died in Skowhegan, Maine 5 Apr 1991.^[3]Marenia is buried at Mount Repose Cemetery in Burlington, Maine.^[4]

BURLINGTON - Marenia (Hurd) Sibley, 90, died April 5, 1991, at a Skowhegan nursing home. She was born in Burlington, Aug. 26, 1900, the daughter of Franklin and Mary (Page) Hurd. She was the wife of the late Alvah Leon Sibley Sr. She spent the majority of her life in Grand Falls, where she was tax collector and town treasurer. She is survived by four sons, Woodrow of Chester, Franklin of Lincoln, Alvah II of Lisbon and Francis of Scarborough; four daughters, Hortense Farrington of Pittsfield, Carolyn Boyington of Fryeburg, Kathleen Zinkle of Carnation, Wash., Shirley Campbell of Calais; one brother, Irving Hurd of Lincoln; one sister, Emma Luce of Lincoln; 34 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Thelma Harriman. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clay, Stevens & Clay Funeral Home, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Keller officiating. Spring burial will be in Mt. Repose Cemetery, Burlington.^[5]
