Biography
Richard Hurd was an English divine and writer, and bishop of Worcester.
He was ordained in 1744, and became archdeacon of Gloucester in 1765.
In 1774 he became bishop of Lichfield and Coventry, and was subsequently chosen to be tutor to the prince of Wales and the duke of York.
He was the author of many works, including:
On the Delicacy of Friendship (1755);
Moral and Political Dialogues (1759);
Letters on Chivalry and Romance (1762);
On the Uses of Foreign Travel (1763)
