Biography

Captain Elbert E. Husted was a second lieutenant in the machine gun company of the 353rd Infantry Regiment. His group entered Manois, France, on June 24, 1918 and he saw action in northeastern France, at the front line near and around Limey during the "Meuse-Argonne Offensive-Bantheville Woods" battles. He was assigned command of the machine gun company in Xammes after his commanding officer was killed next to him.[1]
