Biography

Leavens was born January 8th, 1754 in Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut, the son of Bemjamin Hutchins and Judith Leavens . [1]

He married Parthinea (Perthenia) Sabin on November 1st, 1780 at Pittsfield, Berkshire, Massachusetts. [2]

"Leavens served in the Revolutionary War with his brothers Charles and Noah in Capt. William Clark's Company, Col. Benjamin Simond's Regiment, enlisting 9 July 1777 and serving twenty-two days. He was a sergeant and marched from Gagesboro (Windsor), Mass., to Manchester on an alarm by order of Gen. Stark. He reenlisted 17 August 1777, serving three days, and marched from Windsor to Shaftsbury, Vermont, 13 Oct. 1780, by order of Gen. Fellows, on an alarm at the Northward." [3][4]

Buried in Ladd family farm cemetery, Shortlot Road, Schuyler, Herkimer County, New York.[5]
